CHM257 - Pre-test Review

1st test will be held as follows:
Date: 21st December 2011 (Wednesday)
Duration: 40 minutes

Topics:
- functional groups (students should be able to identify classes of functional group present in a structure)
- naming (make sure u know EVERY substituents and how to deal with subtituents inside substituents)
- optical isomers & chiral centre
- Lewis structure
- combustion and Wurtz reaction
- structural (constitutional isomers)
- and of course....the free radical substitution mechanism.
 
Be prepared.

CHM301 - Pre-test review

1st test will be held as follows:
Date: 22nd December 2011 (Thursday)
Duration: 1 hour (60 minutes)

Topics:
- classification of alcohol
- name of reactions
- boiling point
- naming (hint: involves cyclic structures and multiple functional groups in a structure)
- Cannizaro, aldol condensation, Grignard reagent, oxidation and reduction.
- visual / chemical tests
- application.

Prepare urself.
